What Constitutes an Emergency?

It's important to recognize when your pet needs immediate attention. Some common emergencies include:

  • Difficulty Breathing: Any signs of labored breathing, wheezing, or choking.
  • Severe Bleeding: Uncontrolled bleeding from any part of the body.
  • Trauma: Injuries from accidents, falls, or fights with other animals.
  • Ingestion of Toxins: Swallowing harmful substances such as chemicals, plants, or human medications.
  • Seizures: Sudden, uncontrollable shaking or convulsions.
  • Unresponsiveness: Sudden lethargy, collapse, or loss of consciousness.
  • Severe Vomiting or Diarrhea: Persistent or bloody vomiting or diarrhea.

Daytime vs Nighttime Animal Hospitals

Pet EMERGENCY hospitals are just animal hospitals that are open when daytime animal hospitals are closed. Most could just as easily be called nighttime animal hospitals.

One of the primary differences in daytime and nighttime animals is the cost to visit them - nighttime animal hospitals usually cost more, due to the staffing issues they face finding professionals to work those hours.

Community Animal Hospitals reduces your costs for these untimely emergency animal hospital visits by…

  • Being open in the early evening and on Saturdays, when you most need us
  • Charging daytime animal hospital rates even for early evening and Saturday visits
  • Many emergency veterinarians are just daytime veterinarians working evenings or overnight.

CAH Veterinarians are available when you need them the most.

At CAH, we understand how stressful pet emergencies can be. Our compassionate team is dedicated to providing exceptional care to ensure the best possible outcome for your pet. Your pet's health and safety are our top priorities.
